Are you able to remember all the items in your home in the event it becomes lost, destroyed, or damaged? What if you are the victim of a break-in? Do you know the value of each of those items? The reality is, most likely, no. This is why a home inventory is so important.
By using the spread sheet below, you can make a complete list of all your possessions, room by room, including amount and value. While moving room to room, be sure to take photos or a video of items. Open all closets and drawers, look under beds, and remember your attic, garage, shed and basement too. Attach any, and all, receipts and if you have artwork, jewelry, or antiques, remember additional documents, such as appraisals, should be attached as well. If you know the serial numbers, date of purchase, and model number include them too.
While the inventory list is important in case of an emergency, it will also help you determine if you have gaps in your coverage. Once complete, give us a call, so we can make sure you are properly covered and then place all your documents in a safe location that is waterproof and fireproof. We encourage you to update your inventory list each year and contact us so we can keep you, your family and home protected.
